Family ties, class structure, and colonial legacy are all examined in this enigmatic drama from Argentinian-Spanish writing/directing duo Silvina Schnicer and Ulises Porra (Tigre, 2017). A rich Argentinian family has recently relocated back to the home they keep in the Dominican Republic, bringing with them their long-time maid/nanny, Yarisa, a Dominican woman. Yarisa and her teenage charge, Sara, are as close as family. Yarisa has cared for Sara her entire life; they have no secrets. But Yarisa hasn’t told her own family that she is back on the island, not even her own teenage daughter, Mallory. A crack begins to form in the family dynamic. Yarisa no longer belongs solely to Sara; there is another teenage daughter in Yarisa’s life. In an effort to bring harmony to the new situation, Sara invites Mallory to party with her and her friends. But Mallory doesn’t come home that night. What follows is part mystery, part thriller, and wholly unsettling in its elegance. Motives and intentions are questioned, relationships are shattered, and nothing will ever be the same for Sara or Yarisa.

Les liens familiaux, la structure des classes et l’héritage colonial sont tous examinés dans ce drame énigmatique du duo argentin–espagnol des scénaristes-réalisateurs que sont Silvina Schnicer et Ulises Porra (Tigre, 2017). Une famille argentine riche s’est récemment relocalisée pour revenir à la maison qu’elle garde en République dominicaine, amenant avec elle sa bonne/nounou de toujours, Yarisa, une Dominicaine. Yarisa et son adolescente à charge, Sara, sont proche comme de la famille. Yarisa s’est occupée de Sara toute sa vie; elles n’ont aucun secret l’une pour l’autre. Mais Yarisa n’a pas dit à sa propre famille qu’elle est de retour sur l'île, pas même à sa fille adolescente, Mallory. Une fissure commence à se former dans la dynamique de la famille. Yarisa n’appartient plus seulement à Sara; il y a une autre fille adolescente dans la vie de Yarisa. Afin d’apporter de l’harmonie à la nouvelle situation Sara invite Mallory à faire la fête avec elle et ses amis. Mais Mallory ne revient pas à la maison ce soir-là. Ce qui suit touche au mystère et au thriller, et est complètement déstabilisant de par son élégance. Les intentions et les motifs sont questionnés, les relations éclatent et rien ne sera plus jamais pareil, tant pour Sara que pour Yarisa.
